The Madison Cabinet

Inaugurated in 2000, the Madison Cabinet represents Montpelier's leading supporters and advocates. The Cabinet supports the Montpelier Foundation in preserving the life and legacy of James and Dolley Madison. The name Madison Cabinet harkens back to the trust counselors and cabinet members Madison assembled during his leadership at the Constitutional Convention and during his presidency.
Criteria for Membership
The Madison Cabinet is the most important circle of sponsors and advisors who are dedicated to establishing Montpelier as a national historic site and as the leading rsource on Constitutional education. Members of the Cabinet provide an annual leadership gift of $5,000 or more to support the operation and advancement of Montpelier.
Advancing Montpelier
The Montpelier Foundation has made major strides in making Montpelier a nationally recognized historic site thanks to the steadfast support of its donors. The Cabinet has helped to take the idea of the mansion's restoration from concept to reality. Members have provided financial support for the creation of the Center for the Constition, with an innovative teacher training program and a natioally recognized student competition. The Cabinet has also sponsored new exhibits of Madison furniture, the restoration of the Gilmore Farm, a new Visitor Center and duPont Gallery.
Members of the Cabinet also lend their expertise in areas as diverse as marketing, law, insurance, Constitutional theory, antiques, farm management, and business operations, all helping to improve Montpelier's operations. The continued support of the Cabinet enables the Foundation to build a solid footing, ensuring Montpelier's success.
