Mount Pleasant (< 1723 A.D.)

Research & Collections

Mount Pleasant is one of the few sites that was potentially occupied by Native Americans when the Madison had their overseer and gang of slaves settle the estate.  Archaeologists have recovered arrow head points and pottery dating to the 15th and-17th century.  It is possible that trading actually occurred between the early historic inhabitants and native groups in the area.
