Curatorial Collection
CollectionsMontpelier maintains three permanent collections of Madison, duPont, and other historical artifacts—those items owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, those acquired by The Montpelier Foundation, and an archaeological collection consisting of thousands of items recovered from sites across the 2,700 acre property over the past two decades of excavations. We also maintain a study collection of items used for educational purposes. The Montpelier archives contain historic documents related to the Madisons, the duPonts, the Train Depot, the Montpelier Supply Company, the Montpelier Hunt Races, and the history of the property.
