Hours of Operation
Montpelier is open every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas.
- November – March: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (last tour starts at 4:00 p.m.)
- April – October: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (last tour starts at 5:00 p.m.)
Gilmore Cabin: A Freedman's Farm
- April-October: 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Saturday and Sunday only)
Hands-on-Restoration Tent

Hands-on-Archaeology Lab & Kid-Sized Archaeology

Admission Fees
Admission to Montpelier includes a guided tour of the Madison home; admission to the 2,650-acre gardens and grounds; seasonal and themed tours; the Gilmore Cabin: A Freedman's Farm; the Visitor Center and William duPont Gallery; Education Center; Museum Shop; Landmark Forest; Madison Family Cemetery; Slave Cemetery; active archaeological digs; and the Annie duPont Formal Garden.
Admission also includes an audioguide that allows visitors to take a self-guided tour of the grounds.
