Student Field Trips

Visit

Student field trips at Montpelier include a guided tour of the Madison's home, through spaces where James prepared for the Constitutional Convention; where Dolley entertained guests like Thomas Jefferson and the Marquis de Lafayette; where James' personal servant, Paul Jennings, witnessed history in the making.

For no extra charge, teachers can select up to three additional activities for their students.  These programs finish the job, "giving life" to the historical topics covered by Montpelier's interpretive staff.

"We keep coming back every year!"

"History was given life..."

"We were not expecting such royal treatment!"

"Our guide got the students to think creatively and skeptically...Madison would be thrilled with this, wouldn't he?"
