Tour Tickets are Released One Week in Advance
This one-hour guided tour is the most popular way to experience the historic house. Explore the histories and legacies of James and Dolley Madison, the Enslaved Community, and the Constitution as you journey inside the Madisons’ home.
- Montpelier does not rely on government support and is funded through visitation, grants, donations, and memberships. When you pay the small transaction fee, you’ll be helping make an impact on Montpelier’s mission. Thank you!
The Tour at a Glance:
- one-hour guided tour
- includes both floors of the historic house
- moderate walking and stairs included on the tour route
- tours operate RAIN or SHINE: wear comfortable shoes and weather appropriate clothing

No Refunds:
Tickets purchased for Montpelier tours are non-refundable, even if you choose not to attend.
Cancellations by Montpelier:
The only exception to the no-refund policy is if The Montpelier Foundation cancels the tour itself.
