The Montpelier Archaeology Department hosts both university students and the public on our archaeology programs.  In order to provide a standardized explanation for our field techniques, we make available our field methods to any participants attending these programs.  While all participants are guided in excavations by trained archaeologists, having a document that summarizes the techniques allows participants to better review and comprehend the techniques they are show at the site.  We have found the best way to read this document is to quickly review it prior to arrival, then after the first day in the field, go back and have a deeper read--then the concepts discussed will make more sense once you have actually seen them in action.
