Montpelier boasts 2,650 acres with opportunities for kids and families to run, play, and explore. For children under six, we offer the Family-Friendly tour, presenting Madison's history in a fun and interactive way. The house also hosts a “Children’s Getaway,” with educational toys and books. The Exchange Café in the David M. Rubenstein Visitor Center offers a kids menu and high chairs so the whole family can enjoy a bite to eat, and there's also a shaded area behind the Visitor Center with picnic tables. We also offer a program called “Hands-On History,” a free activity September 17, 18, 24, & 25 that gives kids an opportunity to interact with the history of Montpelier.
