
Arboristry Two-Day Archaeology Expedition
During this special two-day program, we will be mapping and identifying the trees in a woodlot that contains the Montpelier Burial Ground of the Enslaved. The portion of the woodlot that we will be working is where the Montpelier Descendants Committee is planning a memorial to be built to honor their ancestors buried in the adjacent cemetery.
Learn species identification with an an arborists and master naturalists.
Learn how to read the forest for clues to decipher and interpret the historic landscape.
Thursday April 10–tour of Memorial Site and Montpelier Burial Ground of the Enslaved, tree identification tour, survey work at Memorial site
Friday April 11th–tour of grounds of historic trees, survey work at Memorial site.
Costs and Deposit
Cost: $380.00 for the two-day program

Note: Descendants and African-American community members are welcome to attend at no cost

IDEAL FOR AGES 12-95
Anyone under 15 must be accompanied by an adult
