Reconstruct: Historic Masonry Expedition with Fairfield (two-day)

This is a two, hands-on educational experience in which you will work side-by-side with professional archaeologists and masons on actual archaeological and historic sites at Montpelier  Get behind the scenes tours of historic buildings and hands on masonry experience.

The program begins on Sunday night with a dinner with Fairfield and the next two days (Monday and Tuesday) will be spent working with the Fairfield Archaeology Team and experts on masonry repairs at several historic structures in the Middle Peninsula of Virginia tour Fairfields historic sites. Monday will also be spend building a lime rick (oyster shell) and then burning the rick on Tuesday to create quick lime for mortar.

Costs and Deposit

Cost: $500.00 for the week

Deposit: $300.00
