The Property Pass provides one-day admission to Montpelier’s gardens, grounds, trails, and exhibits including: the Annie duPont Formal Garden, The Mere Distinction of Colour exhibition, the Landmark Forest, 8 miles of walking and hiking trails, Madison family and Enslaved Community cemeteries, picnic grounds, and more!

  • $13 Adult (18 and over)
    $8 Youth (12 to 17)
    $5 Child (5 to 11)
    Toddlers Free (4 and under – ticket required)
  • Orange County residents may access the property for free.
  • Montpelier does not rely on government support and is funded through visitation, grants, donations, and memberships. When you pay the small transaction fee, you’ll be helping make an impact on Montpelier’s mission. Thank you!


Note:  A Property Pass is included with the purchase of any guided-tour ticket.

Additional way to access Montpelier’s property:

  • Annual Membership:  Individual memberships start at $50 and include daily admission to the property during business hours; access to select member programming free of charge, including virtual tours; 10% discount from the Museum Shop; and special programs for members.

Blue Star Museums is a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families, in collaboration with the Department of Defense and museums across America, offering free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve.

The 2025 program will begin on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 17, 2025, and run through Labor Day, September 1, 2025.

Free admission (for property pass only) is available for those who are currently serving and up to five family membersQualified members must show a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC)DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card for entrance.

Cancellation Policy

No Refunds:
Tickets purchased for Montpelier tours are non-refundable, even if you choose not to attend.
Cancellations by Montpelier:
The only exception to the no-refund policy is if The Montpelier Foundation cancels the tour itself.
Reservations and Tickets:
Reservations and tickets are only valid for the date specified.
