This year’s Constitution Day celebration promises a full day of discovery, inspiration, and family fun set against the backdrop of James Madison’s beloved home. Whether you’re a history buff, a curious explorer, or looking for a meaningful weekend outing—Montpelier has something for everyone!

- Wander Freely through the historic House, picturesque gardens, and scenic grounds.
- Kick off your adventure with a Montpelier Passport—stamp your way through interactive stations tied to the U.S. Constitution and claim a special souvenir at day’s end!
- Connect with Montpelier Descendant Community (MDC) and local community partners and discover how today’s organizations reflect enduring civic values.
- Kids will love the Hands-On History Corner—a vibrant space packed with crafts, games, and storytelling.
- Dive deep into the acclaimed Mere Distinction of Colour exhibition, unpacking the legacy of slavery and the fight for liberty.
- Come and get a tour of the Revolutionary War Blacksmith shop (by the Temple) and see Moses’ blacksmithing artifacts in person! See expertise that supported the Revolutionary War!

2:00 PM | Three Friends: Reflections on the Revolution “How did you spend your Revolution?” – Don’t miss this extraordinary moment: James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, and James Monroe reunite for a riveting, moderated conversation about their personal and political paths during the American Revolution. Staged in the Grand Salon of the DuPont Gallery, this free public program brings history to life—literally! Portrayed by acclaimed interpreters John Douglas Hall, Bill Barker, and Jay Harrison III. Seating is limited— advance registration strongly encouraged and is part of the REGISTER.
